An architectural heritage : Romanesque churches styles (St. Urcize, Nasbinals...), the rough stone shepherds cottages called « burons », farms... contemporary architecture and numerous famous designers like Starck, Wilmotte, and Raffy who gave to this region, firmly rooted in tradition, an aspect orientated unashamedly towards the future.

The Aubrac breed: A hardy breed of cattle whose qualities are highly valued in the agricultural sector.

A flora which boasts over 1,000 wild plants : from the very popular yellow gentian, the mountain arnica and mountain balm (calamintha grandiflora), known locally as « thé d’Aubrac », to the rarest, such as Siberian ligularia and the remarkable sundew (drosera rotundifolia), unusual as it is a carnivorous plant”

An exceptional fauna: roe, deers, wild boars, foxes, tawny owls, kestrels, buzzards, and stags whose deep calls can be heard in autumn during the mating season.



Laguiole village (1309 inhabitants) is famous for its knife craft. The Laguiole Bull is an imposing bronze statue by Georges Guyot which has been sitting on the Place du Foirail since 1947. It is the symbol of the Aubrac breed throughout the plateau.
